I had the day off today and I would like to say that I spent it cleaning but sadly I can't. After staying in bed as long as I could and giving the boys some breakfast I went to the computer and tried to catch up on some blog reading. As always one blog leads to many other blogs and before I know it the boys were hungry for some lunch. After feeding them, which by the way when did Isaiah become a vacuum, I decided to tackle all me little crafty projects that I had been putting off. After all I was freshly inspired and motivated after seeing so much blog candy. I got a frame repainted and made me a new makeup bag, which I still need to take take picture of and I made my layout out for the MME sketch challenge. Here is the sketch

I decided to go with a 8.5x11 layout.

The boys are back

After a month of having some peace and quite, I again here feet running an mouths yelling through out my house. I am happy to have the boys back but I miss being able to just head out with no agenda with Trey.

Well summer has rolled around again and that only means one thing in the Posey household. The boys get shipped off to their grandparents. It is something that both I and the boys look forward to. I get to enjoy a quite and semi clean house. They get to spend half the time with my parents where they have tons of cousins to play with, including my brothers kids.

Then they get to spend the other half with my in-laws where they have like 40 acres to run around on.
Now I do miss them, especially when it comes time to wash dishes or take out the trash. But it gives me plenty of time to catch up on my reading and of course scrap. And seeing as I have been trying to get back in the groove of things I decide to make this layout for the Paper Issues blog. It's a very easy challenge seeing as I have tons of guy pictures to choose from.

We had a nice little getaway this weekend out to see the family in Texas and I am still trying to recover. But I did say I would try to post more often.... First let me ask (for all my scrappy friends), have you ever started a layout that had so much potential and then it just went no where. Well this is that layout for me. I seriously have been working on it for five months. And since I am not one to start over I finally just decided to plop some journaling on it and call it a day. I was just tired of it sitting on my desk.

No my friends, your eyes are not deceiving you, I am actually blogging. I realize that it has been months so I apologize to the few people that actually read my blog. The Posey house has been terribly busy plus the new job has taken more out of me then I expected. And so with all the everyday happenings scrapping got sent to the back burner, therefore I had nothing worth posting except for a few lines that facebook could handle. But I just had a great Mother's Day weekend that included a little scrapbook getaway. I must say it took me awhile to get the juices flowing but once I did I was cranking them out!
I will start out with a little George, because lets face it he's a hottie! I can't take credit for the pictures, they were "borrowed" from the Birmingham News website.

I am sad that Croppin Paradise is not having a DT next year. The rest if the DT girls and I were very dissapointed. So for one last hurrah here is one of my favorite things about being on the dt and some of my favorite layouts.
One of my favorite things about being on the DT was of course getting to know lots of great new people and making great friends. But another thing that I love is the fact that a lot you helped me break out of my box a little and help expand my scrap booking style. For instance I find myself layering more and hand cutting. Simple hand cutting but who knows where that could lead, right!! I will say that it was a great honor to work next to a bunch of talented ladies and to have a great coordinator like Trish. I will miss working with y'all!

It has been a long while since I've posted anything. At least I have a good excuse. About a month and a half ago I started a new job. Even though I am glad to have more hours, seeing as it equals more money, it has really cut into my free time. Not much has happened since I last posted except for the fact that Trey and I celebrated 6th year anniversary and Preston turned 6 years old. I miss him

Isaiah left Sunday for a week long camp with boy scouts.

I felt really weird last night because I found my self really missing him. But I couldn't figure out why seeing as they are usually gone for weeks at a time during the summer.
Then it hit me. The fact that I have no contact with him is what is killing me. I don't know how he is doing or if he is having fun or learning anything. When they are with their grandparents at least I can call and check up on them. But they are out in the middle of the woods, with shotly cell service I'm sure, not that he has a phone or could take it anyways.

Now don't get me wrong I know he is safe and having loads of fun but not being able to contact him just makes me feel a little empty. I am always checking my email seeing if there are any updates from the leaders and counting down the days till Saturday.
You wanna hear something funny, though. The day after he gets back both him and Preston will be on a plane to Dallas to spend time with my in-laws.... I know! I am beginning to see an advantage to keeping your children in your house till they are forty. Ha, just kidding.

On a brighter note I believe the 2 page bug hit me because I managed to make another one. Crazy, huh.

Every year Trey has this tradition to get the boys ready for summer. Preston loves it and Isaiah is starting to hate it. After all he has to keep appearances now.

They get buzzed. Right before they head of to Texas he pulls out the clippers cuts off their hair. Now they should be nice and cool in that Texas heat.

yet another post

Well aren't I just being a good blogger. I think I have posted more in the past couple of days then I have all month. It has been a somewhat rainy weekend here which has given me some time to be crafty. One thing I created was this cute make-up bag.

I was happy to know that some of my mom's sewing skills rubbed off on me. Now I just need to practice because I still have some improving to do.

Of course, fabric wasn't the only thing I was playing with. I got to play with some LYB Fresh Print.

And no your eyes are not deceiving you. Those are girls. I know it is rare to see on my blog. When I visited my parents earlier this month I made sure I can home with girly picture to scrap. Another line I got to play with was the MME Sophie's Charming line.

Now that is just two of the lines I got to use over at Croppin Paradise. But you will have to wait and see what else I got to use. Don't forget to also check out the blog. They are giving away some SEI for Memorial Day weekend.

crafty weekend

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend. The rain has been coming and going here so I have opted to stay inside and get my craft on. I have finished some scrapbook pages and played some with the sewing machine. That has been a bunch of trail and errors. One bad thing about getting it from my mom is that she didn't have the manual to give me because she never needed it. So I have been playing with it and I am surprised I haven't broken it yet. But I am working on a little project.

In other news, Preston has finally learned to ride his bike without training wheels.

School is officially out for summer! Can't believe that another year has gone by. We ended this one with another graduation. This time it was Isaiah.

My older baby has completed the fifth grade and off to middle school next year. I will also go ahead and go on record that next year on the first day of school I might be locked up in a closet crying as I try and grasp the fact that I will have one of my boys staring kindergarten and the other middle school.

Time to kick off a great summer!

Tonight was Preston's preschool graduation. And let me just say watching a bunch of four and five year olds singing songs and doing skits is hilarious. There first set of song was performed in their pajamas.

Of course Preston couldn't help but wavy hello.
But then they had a "costume" change and apparently they did all the dressing themselves.

Yep that handsome looking boy with the buttons all miss matched is mine.
He didn't even let me fix it after they were done. I figure at that point it really didn't matter much anymore.

Tortilla Tuesday

Don't these just make your mouth water!

I finally broke down and made some today. Tortillas and I have a love/hate relationship. Why you ask? Well as much as I would love to eat them everyday it is a pain to make them. I don't know how my mom does it, for she make them everyday or just about. Sometimes twice a day! I am lucky to make them twice a month. Plus I can't find the flour to make them here so I have to ration what I have. I try and pick up a bag or two everytime I go visit my parents. So tonight I feast like a good mexican should!

In scrap news....I have been trying to improve my card making skills. I don't like making cards. I only make them when I have to. Mainly because I don't do anything with them. But my MIL likes them. She actually appreciates hand made items. So now that I feel like they serve a purpose, I find myself making them a little more often.

I have always been a huge fan of My Mind's Eye and I was very excited when they started a blog. Every two weeks, or so, they post challenges . I finally was able to participate and created this layout.

I usually have Mondays off but I had to work today so it has thrown me all out of wack. I even forgot to take Isaiah to scouts cause I was thinking it was Tuesday. Oh well, there is always next week.

This has been a great weekend. Started off with some scrapping Friday night, that was real fun. I had bought some new goodies last month that I hadn't really had the chance to play with. I will post those later because I need to finish up some journaling on them. But here is a layout and cards that I haven't got around to posting yet. Also this weekend Preston and I finally made to Calera for A Day Out With Thomas. We have been trying for the past two years and it finally worked out this year. Now Preston's love for Thomas has been slowly dying out seeing as he is five and a big boy now, LOL, but he was still just as excited to see that big blue engine pull up on the track.

We spent the whole day playing games, seeing trains, and taking pictures with some of Sodor's friendliest faces.

We even got to ride Thomas's train! We got to sit in an open air car right behind him. Preston couldn't get enough.

After a fun filled day we are taking it easy today. I will finish up the layouts I have and then I will be picking up Isaiah later. He spent the weekend camping at Shiloh in Tennesse, with Troop 2. I need to start sending a camera with him so that he can take pictures. I think it is great that through boy scouts he is getting to travel and see lots of new places. And I can go on about that but that will have to be for another blog post seeing as this one has dragged on this long.

Bruno and Lula.

Yep as of to day we are now dog people, again. The first go around didn't work out. LOL. We were only going to do one dog but when we went to look at them they were just so cute together we didn't want to separate them. Plus each kid has already claimed one.
Bruno belongs to Preston.

Lula belongs to Isaiah.

As of right now the boys are excites about their new pets. We will see how long that last. But I do think we made the right decision. Especially since they have already been some what trained by the foster family.
Well tomorrow we are back to the same ole' same ole'. Isaiah goes back to school, Preston to daycare and I have to wake up earlier. I hope everyone has a great week.

Happy first day of Spring everyone. I know all my Bama peeps enjoyed the beautiful sunny day we had here after a gloomy cloudy week. My MIL came to visit us this week and I love having her around. For one Trey and I got to go out for the evening. We finally saw the Blindside last night. I am sure we are one of the last people to see it. LOL. It was very good, even got teary eyed a time or two.
This month over at Croppin Paradise, one of the lines I got to work with was Little Yellow Bicycle. I hate to admit that I wasn't much of a fan. Not because I didn't like it, but because I had never really seen it. But let me just say I love this company! It is quickly becoming one of my favorites! Here is the layout I made using the Lucky Me line.

Everything is Little Yellow Bicycle except the pearl brad, which is American Crafts.

allergy woes and scrappiness

Hey everyone! I hope all my Birmingham peeps enjoyed the lovely weather we had earlier this week. I for one did not get to. I actually dread this time of year. You know when the weather can't make up its mind whether it wants to be warm or cold. All it does is make me miserable for those two or three days that it is warm outside. By the time my runny nose and watery eyes go away it turns cool again and the cycle starts all over. But I did enjoy pulling out the flip flops and not taking my light jacket.
Now about two weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to my friend Brittany's house and scrapping for the weekend. Didn't get a whole lot done, but I enjoyed the time with some great ladies and fell in love with Oreo truffles!

This past month I had some fun working on some Bo Bunny for Croppin Paradise. Now I will admit I have never used their product before but I fell in love with the whimsical line. Here are the two layouts I created using the Love Bandit and the Persuasion line.

This tiny thing here was born.

I was scared out of my mind for I had no clue what to do. But one thing I knew from the moment I saw him was the fact I would do anything for him. Now I find it very hard to believe he is already this big.

I still have no clue sometimes but the one thing that hasn't changes is I would still do anything for him!
So I would like to tell my son Happy Birthday! Also this this is my all time favorite picture of the two of us. I love the fact that he is not looking at the camera for he was never intrested in what is in front of him but always wondering what else is going on.

I am not a big fan of the cold. Never have been. I am a summer girl, may have some thing to do with my birthday being in June.
See when Trey decided he wanted to move from Houston he put two places on the table. Birmingham because this is where he went to collage and had connections or Colorado because his sister lived there at the time. Well I decided after living in Houston all my life Colorado would be too much of a dramatic change for me so I went with Birmingham. Plus he sweetened the deal by telling me his friend's wife was a scrapbooker. Anyways, but now I am sitting here in Birmingham where for the past week I have woken up to 32 degrees or lower temps. I didn't sign up for this. Or at least it wouldn't be so bad if we had some snow to show for it. Although I guess I should be grateful for 18 degrees vs -50 like I heard it was in Minnesota or somewhere up there. And to think it is only the beginning of January so it can still possibly get colder!
Well I guess while I am cooped up inside is I get to scrap more. And what better thing to scrap then snow pictures right?
One of the good things that came out of our Texas trip was the boys got to enjoy some snow. See now doesn't pounding your cousin with a snowball just make you forget that it's cold outside.

valentine's around the corner

I know we just ended the holiday season and there are even some people **me** who still have their Christmas tree up but Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Well I came across, well not me but still, this blog with great idea.

A year ago this January 14, I started my blog. So for my 'blogversary', I decided to celebrate the whole month of January, and do something for others. My family and I are going on vacation in February and as I was making plans for that, the Lord showed me that St. Jude Hospital was right on our way and He laid on my heart to do what I love and make cards for the patients there! I felt a little overwhelmed at first, because they see about 200 patients a day, but I soon felt that the Lord will provide the cards. I believe if we all pull together, we can make this happen. It is so sad to think of all the sick children there. So I am hoping that it will bring a smile to their face and a little more love in their hearts, when they receive their card on Valentine's Day. My family and I will be dropping off all of the cards to St. Jude Hospital in Tennessee, so please send them to me at the address below.

I think this is such a good idea. I mean who among us doesn't love receiving love notes. Plus even though I have never had to use St. Judes services and hope never to, I do know someone who has. So for Cole and any other kid that has had to go there I have decided to make some cards to send to Winter. Fact last night I made two.

Here are some more details.

Here are some of the guidelines from St. Jude hospital and a few of mine.

* Cards need to be a Valentine theme.
* Cards can't have anything about 'Get Well Soon', 'Feel Better', or anything reminding them of being sick. (Only Valentine Cards)
* Please make cards that can be used for any gender or age. (This could be a little tricky, but I think you can handle it!)
* Cards must be able to fit into a 4 1/2 X 5 3/4 envelope. (I will provide clear envelopes for each card, so there is no need to send one with your card.)
* Please send all cards to me at:

* You can include a message in the inside, but please remember, nothing reminding them of being sick. (Maybe just a Valentine sentiment.) You can also sign your name and where you are from.

I know two post in one day. I should really pace myself but I just had to share the news. After the our trip to Texas I was really needing some kinda pick me up. Well I get the best surprise ever when I get home. In my inbox was an email from Croppin Paradise saying I have been selected to be part of their design team! I am so excited to be part of this team, I can just tell it is going to be so much fun. So in this next year just know I will be bringing great layouts and ideas from Croppin Paradise!

We have all heard of White Christmas but have you heard of its nasty cousin, Ice Christmas? People hate when it comes to town and most even try to avoid it. But oh no not us Posey's.
Trey to surprise his parents on Christmas day. Figured we would show up at his Memaw's house where everyone would be Christmas morning. In theory it was a great idea. The only problem was it snowed and some melted before it froze, the night before. His sister, the only one who knew about the plan, was telling us to be careful because it was bad. Said it took her 4 hours to drive what should have taken 45 min the night before. We get to Garland and start seeing some patches of snow and some frozen puddles but nothing major yet. But within a couple of miles we start seeing ice on the bridges. Trey of course starts slowing down in those areas. Well on one particle bridge we were in the far left lane and slowed down, but the car in front of decided to slow down to like 5 miles an hour. Here is the dilemma because one knows that you are not to brake on ice so he attempts to change lanes. This proves to be a bad idea too. For what else is a truck with no weight in the back suppose to do but skid around on the ice. All I remember is it was all in slow motion, the truck proceeded to turn perpendicular across traffic and go straight to the barrier, not before hitting that slow car on its way. Our airbags went off and everything. Fortunately everyone, including the other driver was okay. A fireman who happened to be driving by stopped to help us and told us that if our vehicles could move to move, for within 2 min. of our accident some idiot was going like 80 mph on that same bridges and slammed into someone else. The fireman was like exchange info and leave because this was a very dangerous spot. So they do and we leave, broken truck and all. After all we still have people to surprise, right.
We keep on going and the farther north we go the worse the ice gets. It is just caked on the roads. But we almost make to our destination without any problems. Almost. We were maybe less then two miles from Heather's house when we wind up in a ditch. That right accident #2. And this time it was nothing Trey did, just luck, or lack there of, and physics I guess. He was driving slow down this back country road when the bed of the truck decides it is tired of being behind so it swings around and spins us backward in a ditch. At this point, Trey is cursing this trip to no end. He is frustrated and tired and we are stuck. Luckily this man with a big dully truck pulls us out and we continue are journey and make it to Heather's house. We are all grateful to be out of the truck and off the ice. Later when the ice melted some went to his Memaw's and surprised everyone at the Ponder house. Made our debacle of a morning almost worth it.
On Monday he took the truck to the shop hoping it could get fixed but we found out Tuesday on the way to Houston it was totaled. That was just more insult to injury because even after insurance pay out we will still owe. Now we have to figure out what we are to do about a vehicle. Trey is swearing at this point that he is never coming back. I am more forgiving of course, would love to back next month if I could. I will leave you with some fun snow pictures to show that this trip wasn't a total bust.

I hope everyone has been their Christmas shopping done. And for those who are done can I hand you my list! Anyways, early this year my lss closed and I was devastated. I feel so out of the scrapbook loop. I am not a big fan of ordering online because I am a touchy feely person. I like to see what I am buying. Well I finally cracked and just had to buy me some new goodies and they came in last week! I was so excited to have new things to play with this weekend . It was like an early Christmas present just for me! Something that I got was some new paper from Studio Calico. I am not sure when they started making paper but I really like it.

We stood in line way too long surrounded by very impatient little children but we finally got to see St. Nick himself. I managed to sneak in a photo or two seeing that we weren't allowed to take our own, especially if you weren't buying one of their packages.

I have been in a scrapping funk lately. This hobby is one of my outlets that I use to unwind but the lack of inspiration is driving me crazy. So while I was browsing my favorite scrappy blogs I came across KI's Wildcard Wednesday. They had a sketch posted and I was immediately drawn to it. So I ran to my scraproom with my recently printed photos. Okay for those who have been playing along with the fall cleaning, remember this
the closet of endless toys. Well I finally tackled it today. Now it is all nice and clean with drastically fewer toys. I also cleaned up the fireplace. It is a catch all for things in the living room, especially..... you guessed it, toys. I am happy to show you a clean mantel and hearth. Now I did keep some of the most played with toys, because we all know that is where they will end back up anyways.

Even though I only cleaned up the small spaces I feel like I accomplished so much. I also managed to get the boys to let go of all these these toys when did we accumulate so much. Now to figure out what to do next. Master bedroom maybe, scraproom, unlikely, or the kitchen, again. I swear it is never ending -insert huge sigh here- Have a great night!

For today I came home to my dining room table looking like this

I honestly had half the mind to leave it, but seeing as I claimed I would do some cleaning this week I decided to go ahead and clean it. Now it looks like this.

All the ziploc bags, the bottle of wine, the dvd player and a bunch of other stuff have found their proper home. It seriously took all of like ten minutes. It pains me a little knowing that the kids are eating on my clean table. But what is even more amazing is the fact that the hubs has participated in the cleaning efforts. I have been nagging him for awhile and go through his clothes because our closet was slowly getting smaller. Well I finally come home and it has been done.

See those clothes on the bottom bar that is what he "took" out. Granted they are still in there but at least I can now grab them and put them inthe stuff to donate. How are everybody else's cleaning adventures going?

I am no Susie Homemaker and will never be. Having a clean house has just never been one of my priorities. But the in-laws are coming next week and the house should be presentable, or so I am told. So it is very fitting that Virgina, Brittany and Lisa kindly motivate me to do some fall cleaning.

Here's what I'm doing:

make a plan each day to be for each room or cleaning/decluttering project.
take before & after pics and post 'em on your blog each night, along with which room you are doing the next day.
come back to my blog and post your blog entry to a linky thing (this way you can check out everyone elses' progress to keep ya motivated too!)
join in, even if you can only do something for 15 min. (EVERYONE can spare 15 minutes of straightening, throwing out something, cleaning up something, etc. and you'll feel so much better for it!)
keep in mind- this is not a competition. this is not going to earn your righteousness or give you the "woman (or man!) of the year award"! this is just a chance to tackle a few projects around home with the encouragement of friends.
BEWARE: don't get sucked into the deadly disease of Magazine Cover-itis! ;)

Figured if everyone else is doing it, why not me. Plus it's not like they are pressuring my to go smoke behind the bleachers. So today was my first day of cleaning/decluttering. I decided to tackle the upstairs bathroom. Even though we have a master bathroom I share the bathroom with the boys. We have a stand alone shower in the master and this claustrophobic prefers the tub/shower upstairs. So you can imagine how that tiny bathroom can become a quick mess with two boys and a mom using it.

Here is the before:
If you will notice I still have the paint rollers and brushes from when I painted the boys room last month. Well after about 30 minutes of cleaning I had a clean counter.
It is so nice to see a clean counter. I also accomplished some laundry but didn't take any pictures of that, seeing as it is still all over my couch. My next goal is to clean out the boy's closet.
I will be doing that over the next several days seeing as I work. But if you don't hear from me I got trapped in the closet by the Bioniacles or Thomas.
I wish I would have done more today seeing as I had the day off but I spent some of my time scrapping. I am telling you my priorities are out of whack. But I did manage to do this two pager which that in it self is an accomplishment for this scrapper.

I know, I know what is the point of me starting a blog if I am going to neglect it. But I hope the handful of people who read it forgive me. I would like to say that I have been away because I have been extremely busy but sadly that is not the case. I have just been extremely lazy. But trust me there hasn't been that much going on at the Posey household either. The only thing interesting to report was that Trey that I did celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Nothing big, just went out to dinner with the boys, cause after all they have as much invested in this marriage as we do :) I must say even though I have discovered a million ways Trey has to annoy me, I have found just as many reasons to love him more. Kinda corny, yes, but very true.
We have also been hitting the fall festival "circuit" like crazy. Seems like most of the churches in our area had something going on. The boys loved it! And trust me we have more candy then I know where to hide! We almost didn't really have a need to go trick or treating. We did of course. I mean on what other day can I exploit my children's cuteness to get MY candy fix! So I leave you with some pictures of some of our adventures of the past week. Just think Thanksgiving is in 25 more days.

Changes

We have been in this house for three years and I am just know getting around to decorating it. We were not exactly sure how long we would be staying here so I never really fooled with it before. But seeing as we are still here I am starting to add some personal touches. I have decided to start in the boys room. Just painted their room went from a baby blue almost to a darker blue.(Please ignore the messy room.)

I have also discovered chalkboard paint. Seeing as I only used a small amount for the boy's new black board I have some fun plans for the rest of the can.

I have also been making some small changes around the house. I was inspired by Lisa. I am not a big holiday decorator just because I hate keeping up with the stuff but I did try to make my home more fall friendly.

Those who know my oldest know that he could care less about girls, unlike the little one who claims to have 4 girlfriends. Well apparently that is not the case anymore. The other day while watching tv Demi Lovato came on and Isaiah yells, "She's Hot". I mean really, when did this happen. I even discovered a poster of her on the back of his door! You know, those posters that come out of those teen magazines and I have never bought the stupid things, so who knows how he got it. I don't care how cute this girl is and I know the fact that he will ever meet her are slim to none, but still in the back of my head I am thinking her...really....not good enough.

I am not sure I will be able to handle the teen years. Bless those mothers who have daughters, I don't know how y'all do it.

For the past couple of weeks I have been wanting to scrapbook but something was always coming up, like washing dishes doing laundry, or valuable tv time. So last night I decided to just print some pictures and sit down in front on my messy scrap table and see what I create. Well I mananged to finish one layout and create another.

One Fish, Two Fish

I would like to introduce a couple new members in our household. Stripy, Marlin, Flames, El Emo, D Gemo, and Dory. And even more exciting, after three weeks they're all still alive! Trust me this little fishies are defying the odds. We figured we would have lost one or two of them by now but they are sticking around.
We had a saltwater aquarium when we were first married but we got rid of when we decided to move. Despite the cost I really enjoyed it and wanted to get another one but we weren't exactly sure how long we would be staying in our house and couldn't bother with moving it. But after being here three years and a friend giving him the tank we decided to go ahead and try again. Hopefully this one will last longer than six months! Have a great night!

guilty pleasure #19

So it's about that time again. When I rush the kids off to bed so that I can watch my shows, uninterrupted. Even though I am hooked to several shows, thanks to my dvr, there is only one I am really looking forward to. Smallville. Yep, you heard, er, read right. Me, a 27 year old mother of two, love, love to watch this show.

One, because I have watched since season one and I am now nine years invested. Two, because hubs #2 (if the need should ever arise :)) is on the show. I just love Tom Welling! I mean seriously have you seen the man.

What I really love about him is the fact that he is a very private person. I mean he literally avoids the lime light when ever possible. In turn, it makes him more mysterious, which just makes him more irresistible.
But there are other more grown up shows I love to watch. There is CSI, all of them, Private Practice and Grey's. I haven't decide if there are any new shows that I want to add to my list. I mean I struggle as is is keeping up with these shows. But there are three shows that are sparking my interest. Trauma, Cougar Town and the Vampire Diaries. But we'll see how the schedule plays out and how much homework Isaiah gets. Well I hope everyone has a great night!

it's official

First of let me start out by saying that for the past five years we have been a family. Nothing anybody says or does can take that away from us. But as of today Isaiah is officially a Posey and Trey is legally his dad!

Now of course this a huge day for Trey. He has always loved Isaiah as if he was his natural born son but now he can give him his name and as he says NO one can take him away from him. I too, am very happy. For the longest time, before Trey that is, I seriously thought I would always be a single mother. Therefore, I never was expecting to meet anyone because I figured I wouldn't find anyone good enough to be my husband much less a father to my son as well. So I am very blessed that the Lord put Trey in my life and let me realize that there was someone out there that could do both. Isaiah was excited that a) he got to leave school early and b) he gets to change his last name to match the rest of ours. He doesn't understand all the legality of it and he doesn't need to. All he needs to know is that his dad loves him and will always be there for him. So I would like to thank all of our family and friends who gave us their support and prayers to let everything happen as smooth as possible.

Well seeing as I spent last weekend at a crop I do have several layouts to share. But I won't do them all at once because we need to spread the layout love and because I don't have them all scanned, hee hee.
Of course with school just starting I needed to do a layout commemorate it.

Here is a layout with me and Trey. I was just so happy to scrap a picture of us.

And I am happy to say that I am still on the island at croppin paradise. The layout challenge was to use colors you would find in a tropical paradise. Can't go wrong with blue and green right! The mini challenge was to create a card with some kind of nature element. I will have to post that card later because I don't have the memory card that it's on. (You know I should really keep better tabs on my storage devices.)

Wow, this past week just seems like a blur. For one Isaiah started school last Thursday. As far as I can tell he is enjoying it as much as a 10 year old boy can.

Also this weekend I was able to enjoy some time away with some friends. It has been the first time that I have gone away to scrap and even though I was totally sleep deprived I would so do it agian. But with great friends like these to hang out with, sleep is just not that important.

First I would like to thank everyone who voted for me. And why am I asking for votes? Well you see I am doing these challenges over at Croppin Paradise. It is the Queen of Paradise Island Challenge. It will last several weeks and I have fortunately last the first. Here is the layout I created for the first challenge and the tag I made for the mini challenge.

The first challenge was to make a layout about your favorite restaurant and the mini challenge was to make a tag.
We'll see how far I make it. But for those who didn't make on the boat the first time you can still participate in the challenges for a RAK. And who wouldn't like free stuff for a little inspiration.

That's right, it's back to school time! Just one more week and Isaiah will be starting the fifth grade. That is crazy! I still remember his first day of pre-k. He was content with the whole situation until I left, then I hear him screaming bloody murder as I walk out the door. And now he doesn't even want me to take him on the first day, he would rather ride the bus. I mean seriously how is a mother suppose to cope with these things.
So this weekend is Alabama tax free weekend. Anybody going to go out and hit the sales? I have to work so no shopping for me or at least no all-day-shop-till-you-drop-athon which is good seeing as I don't have money. I am just glad I don't work at Walmart or Target or any store in the mall. Bless them folks is all I have to say. Yes we will be busy but most people don't just automatically think office supply store for back to school shopping so we are spared the massive crowds. Well that is all for now. If I had energy left I would be jumping up for joy. See I have been training for a 5k in October. It is a race to raise money for breast cancer. There are two main reasons I want to do this. The first, to just start running again and get back in some form of shape. But the main, main reason is for my MIL. About three years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was in Wales at the time so I never saw her and even though I heard about what she was going through I don't think I really still grasped how hard, stressful, scary, painful this all was for her. And seeing as she was far away there was nothing I could really do. So I figure me going out in this hot sun, torturing my legs is a small way I can help out. Not only for her but for my mother as well, who seeing as she is a woman could go through this, although lets pray not. Good news though, you will be happy to know that my MIL is at this point a breast cancer SURVIVOR! Praise the Lord for that!
Now the reason I was so excited was the fact that today I was able to run a whole mile with out stopping! Yay me! Hopefully by the end of next month I will be able to do all 3 point whatever miles. I also just need to go ahead and hurry up and sign up on this team, Running with Scissors. I mean if I am going to be going out there and dragging myself across 3 miles I might as well do it with a bunch of friends, right? So who else wants to join me?

I guess last night I just had stored up energy since I hadn't really done anything so I used up that energy doing what...scrapping of course. If you saw yesterday post you saw that I had plenty of new pics to play with. And as usual I get this mojo like at ten so I only managed to finish one.

I am really liking that Thicker font. I keep wanting to reach for it. But I don't want to use them all up either. KWIM. ;)
Well I guess now I will wash some clothes or something to make up for my lack of effort this weekend.

lazy weekend

I have done nothing productive this weekend except wash some dishes. I feel like such a sloth. Oh well. But here is something for Gretchen and Lee.

See Isaiah is an Auburn fan because that is his Aunt Heather's alma mater and she got to him first. So he is a little harder to sway. But Preston, well there is something they can work with. Still young enough to influence any which way. Hmm, maybe I can get them to pay for his college education if he commits to it now! Hey no harm in trying. Hehe.

But now I must tell you a little a secret. See I have discovered how to see into the future and I have seen my boys all grown up. And let me tell you they will grow up to be very handsome young men.

And apparently Isaiah will be a blind and still an Auburn fan, sorry Gretch.

So for the two or three people who actually read this you know that I have been hitting up some consignment and thrift shops lately. I do more looking around than anything else but I have come home with a thing or two. One thing I came home with was this.

Now even though those ducks are adorable they just aren't for me. What I loved was the round frame. I mean how often do you see that. Plus it was like a $1.50, can't beat that. Of course you know I was going to attempt to do something with it. So now I have this.

A fun frame to hang in my home. I don't have many family pictures (which I can thank Gretchen for taking this one) and I wanted to do something different with this one. I really like the way this turned out. Now I have all these little ideas bouncing around in my head. I think another consignment trip may be needed.

That's right my boys are back! We suprised the boys by meeting my mother in law in Shreveport. They assumed they were going to hang out at a hotel to go swimming. They were really suprised when they saw us open the door. That was very fun. We spent the day there and I even went to the casino a bit to check out the action and lost twenty five dollars. Could have been more but that all the cash I had. The next day the plan was for us to drive down to Mobile and then spend Sunday at Gulf Shores. Well we arrived in Mobile around 3:30 and decided it was early enough to go to the beach. Well little did we know it would take us almost two and a half hours! That's right once we got on Hwy 59 from I-10 it took us almost two hours to drive that 20 mile stretch. So we didn't get there till alomst 6:30. We finally get there but by this point we are starving so we let the boys play for a while and decide to go find a place to eat.

Well the plan was to back the next morning but Trey didn't really care to find out if that traffic was there again, Preston was whining that he just wanted to go home and Isaiah was all salted out. So I was out voted and we went home. Trust me I was annoyed. I have only been nagging Trey that I have wanted to go to the beach for like forever. And I didn't think it made since to drive fifty million hours to go to the beach for 45 minutes. But we will figure out how to remedy the situation later. Now I am going to ignore the luggage that needs to be put away and get some rest. Spending 22 out of 60 hours in a car can be pretty draining.

You know being a Texas girl I am very proud of the fact that I drive a truck. I mean little ole me in a big truck it's a little empowering. But it does have its draw back. For instance you can't see the little things around you. For instance those cement barriers at gas stations. If you don't pay attention this can happen...

Don't you hate doing stupid things like that. Especially when they could have been avoided if you were just paying closer attention.

But Friday was a much better day. Trey and I went to some antique places in Jemison and Clanton. The one in Clanton was pretty cool. It acually had more antique-y stuff. I just love roaming these places seeing what I can find.

I just wanna fill my home with all this fun stuff but I have no room or money. Trust me this stuff ain't cheap. You know I bet you the antique shops on the upper east coast must have a lot of good things I would love to plan a trip to one of those. Or in the UK. Trey says they have tons of shops just full on antiques and a lot cheaper then you would find here because they are just swimming in that stuff, which makes sense seeing as they have been around much longer. But seeing as I am not going there anytime soon Clanton will have to do.

Well here is a layout I did while I scrapped with Gretchen last weekend, which is amazing since I can never seem to finish a layout when we scrap together.

Sadly nothing. You would think with all this extra time on my hands I would have redecorate or paint the walls or something but I have not. I am in the process of cleaning the boys room though. Being as nobody has been in there for weeks I kinda ignored it but seeing as they will eventually be back I decided it should be cleaned. I am not done but I needed a break, hee hee, plus I am wanting to rearrange the furniture and need to figure out how I want to arrange it exactly. For now I will leave you with some layouts that I made because after all there is always time to scrap right :)

Missing them

Is has been almost three weeks and there is still at least two weeks to go. As liberating as it is not having them by my side I do miss them alot.
Today was a fun day though. Spent the day going to consignment shops. I swear I can spend hours on one of those store. Everytime you walk around you find something new. I only came home with two small things. Only because everything else that I wanted was still way to much. Well I hope everyone else is having a good weekend. As for myself, going to go get my scrap on!

Today was a lazy day. Or at least that was my intention. It started out just watching Michael Jackson videos. I am not what you call a huge fan, but a fan none the less. But after watching Dirty Diana for about the fifth time I decided I should do something. Figured I would go to the grocery store and get food seeing as there is none. But then realized that the fridge is a total disaster and I should clean that first. So that is what I did today. Cleaned out the fridge. I mean take everything out including shelves and scrub it out.
So now I have a clean fridge. Notice there is no before pictures. Trust me you didn't want to see. Oh yea and did you notice all those protein shakes? Those are Trey's and ask me when was the last time he drank one? I almost threw them away but they are so darn expensive plus now that they are easily seen maybe he will drink them more often. Ha!

First off let me say Happy Father's Day! Especially to my Dad, Trey and Charles my father-in-law. I hope you all have a great weekend. This weekend started out with going out to dinner with a few friends for my birhtday. That was fun, just going out and haveing some girl time. Saturday Trey and I spent the day together. We went out to lunch and then just ran around in search of a printer that he needed for work. Then I spent the night scrapping and am still in the process of trying to finish. But I had to stop and go walk/run. I have been trying to train for this 5k and apperantly sitting on the couch doesn't qualify as training. So I had to go out and nearly die because it is so HOT outside. And to think it is only going to get hotter! I will have to talk about that later but now I have to figure out what to make/get for dinner before I can sit down and scrap again.

Cereal

There are few things I could not live with out and one of those things is cereal. I swear given the chance I would eat it three times a day. I don't know why, I guess it is my comfort food. And there is really only three that I really like. Cap'n Crunch, my favorite, Malt O Meal Cinnamon Toasters and Honey Bunches of Oats. I will go through phases with all three. Now of course I eat others, depending on what child I am with or what is on sale at Publix. Another thing that is a must have for cereal is whole milk. I can not, I repeat, can not eat it with anything else. I know my hubby says that 2% or fat free is better for you and I am not arguing that fact but I refuse to eat cereal with it. You can always tell who bought the milk by what kind it it. Although sometimes I do please him and buy a gallon of fat free for him and the boys but you will also see a half gallon of whole milk hiding in the back of the fridge just for me.

Already I have only been home for a few hours and I miss the boys. The house is just too quiet. It doesn't help either that Trey is working. I think I have only been home alone a handful of times so it just feels weird.
Had a great time seeing my family. Took the boys to Galveston. It was second time for both boys but don't remember their first so they were very excited to go. It was very wierd driving around my hometown and seeing lots of changes. Katy just seems to be getting bigger. Always new store, neighborhoods, even streets everytime I go back. Well I need to go figure out where my work clothes are. I hope they are in the dryer with the last load I did before I left (yes there has been a load there for five days seeing as Trey probably didn't take it out) I really don't care to do a load now.

Just 3 more days and I will be off to Texas! I am so excited. As much as I love Alabama I still consider Texas my home. Just something about the Lone Star State.
The reason for the trip you might ask? I am dropping the boys off for the summer!! I know party at my house! They will get to spend some time with both sets of grandparents. That's right I get 1 1/2 month of no yelling, running, jumping or screaming. As much as I am excited at having a quite trust me two weeks in I will want to jump in the car and go pick them up. (of course two weeks after that I will want to drop them back off again....)
I also love doing this because Trey and I get to spend time together. Seeing as we have no family here is very very hard for us to spend time out of the house together. So I am looking forward to just being able to roam around the store with my him with out some kid bolting to the toy aisle. And then dragging said kid out of the toy aisle. Well I still have lots of clothes to wash and sink full of dishes that I am still trying to ignore before I go to bed so goodnight!

So here it is one in the morning and I can't sleep. So what do I do, start a blog. Whether I have anything intresting to say have yet to be determinded but feel free to tag along. In reality I only expect family members and a few friends to read but who knows. Maybe someone in Canada will care about what I have to say.
